Longstanding member of twice Mercury Prize nominated band Polar Bear, Leafcutter John is a widely celebrated artist in his own right. Sound experimentalist and songwriter, lecturer, inventor and creator, John Burton has collected impressive accolades over the past three decades, not only for his ingenuity in software and hardware production but also for his ability to craft rich, textured and melodic electronic music. John has performed alongside Imogen Heap, Beck, Nick Cave, The Comet is Coming and Grace Jones, received praise from The Wire Magazine, The Guardian, Future Music and Time Out. Since 2010 John has been busy designing, building, and developing his light controlled musical interface, He’s performed throughout Europe using the system and given talks and workshops with it at various Music and Art Schools. In 2012 he took this system to Vietnam at the invitation of the British Council, in 2014 won the Quartz Award for Innovation and in 2017 theart worlds most coveted Prize The Paul Hamlyn Award.
